Mantra, Sound & Yoga Retreat

In this experiential retreat, you will learn firsthand the inner workings of sacred sound, gaining practical guidance on how to infuse your yoga and meditation practice with what is known as sacred sound vibration. This valuable practice also helps to awaken inner luminosity, wisdom, and intuition.

The purpose of practicing Mantras and Sound is to:

- Empower yourself with material and spiritual benefits to further your spiritual practice 

The powerful natural setting of Sanctuary Hill inspires and deepens your sense of place and helps you to go deeper into the practices.

This retreat is open and suitable for people of any level of yogic experience.

What to expect

Yoga:

All activities in our program are included and the opportunity to attend all of the yoga and meditation sessions. The schedule is designed to include two yoga classes a day, apart from Friday which will only include one yoga class after your arrival. Morning classes are intended to be with more movement to start that day and warm up. The evening classes are a restorative style to  prepare us for a good night sleep. We specialize on Traditional Hatha and Restorative styles.  Beginners to yoga will get an introduction to yoga postures, breathing practices and relaxation techniques, while the more experienced will be guided in how to deepen their practice. 

We feel dedicated to your personal evolution. Our team of wellness experts provides workshops and education to help you achieve your health related goals. Our guest speakers and lifestyle mentors support deep inner work to facilitate lasting and real change on your mindset and perspective toward healthy living. Workshops:

On Saturday in the Mantra workshop will provide each individual with a comprehensive introduction to the power and practices of sound, mantra and voice. We will talk about the nature & power of sound & mantra, drawing from yoga philosophy, mystic traditions & science. We will also cover the meaning & experience of mantras. 

In the evening we will have a Mandala Workshop. In many spiritual practices, a mandala represents the entire Universe and/or a symbol that stands for an effort to reunify the self. This workshop is a supportive tool for meditation by allowing clear and vivid visuals while occupying the motor skills. We will take the artists step-by-step, creating beautiful mandalas. We will talk about shape and color psychology, using positive affirmations that reflect the meaning of the shapes used in the drawing.

On Sunday we will have an interactive Chakra workshop you will get to explore the fascinating world of chakras and human energy channels. You will learn what the chakras are, how the chakras relate to your metabolism, and the relevance of all this to yoga.  You will also learn which chakra is dominant in your life and how you can influence change.

Walking trails:

We provide group transportation to enjoy time in nature in a guided group walks in the surrounding areas of Taranaki. Weather permitting our Saturday walk will be a forest area where the trail is slightly steep in some areas. This walk will have a duration along 90 minutes. Suggested things to bring are hiking shoes, small pack, water bottle.

Meals:

The carefully prepared meals at Sanctuary Hill have a special mention on our guide. Our chef crafts extraordinary menus that are rich in natural, whole foods and herbs and contain no artificial substances or common allergens. Chef prepares all meals with seasonal, organic, locally available ingredients and with as much naturally grown ingredients from our own garden. Beautiful, delicious and so, so good for you—the food we serve is meticulously prepared to fuel both body and soul. All special dietary requirements are accommodated.

Accommodation:

We provide shared accommodation, with two or three guest per room. The maximum number for our groups are 10 guests.

Our modern luxury bedrooms are equipped with 100% cotton linen ant towels. We also have an option for couples to accommodate in a king size bedroom. 

We invite our guests to unwind: take a walk, explore the property, read a book from our library, journal, connect with nature and wildlife, and relax in the hot tub.

Prices

Two Night Program:

Shared Bedroom: $625 each (this is for single travelers that share a double or triple occupancy room)

Private Bedroom: $900 for single occupancy

Private Double Room: $1,250 for 2 guests (this is a private room for a couple or 2 friends traveling together)

Three Night Program:

Shared Bedroom: $835 each (this is for single travelers that share a double or triple occupancy room)

Private Bedroom: $1,100 for single occupancy

Private Double Room: $1,670 for 2 guests (this is a private room for a couple or 2 friends traveling together)

We offer Extended Stay Packages if you wish to stay at Sanctuary Hill after/before your Retreat.

Our packages can include accommodation, meals and access to our daily yoga schedule.

About New Plymouth

Transportation:

Sanctuary Hill is located only 15 minute drive from the New Plymouth Airport. We are happy to organize a shuttle service with an independent specialized company which normally charges NZ$35 dlls one-way.  

Starting October 2019, you can request a ride with Uber so that you can move seamlessly from A to B in New Plymouth. 

New Plymouth is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Notable features are the botanic gardens (i.e. Pukekura Park), the critically acclaimed Len Lye Centre and Art Gallery, the 11 km (6.8 mi) Coastal Walkway alongside the Tasman Sea, the Len Lye-designed artwork known as the Wind Wand, Paritutu Rock, and views of Mount Taranaki/Egmont. New Plymouth Airport has daily services from Air New Zealand and Jetstar airlines.
