Cooking and Wellness Weekend
March 19th - 22nd' 2021
Here at Sanctuary Hill, we are very passionate about inspiring clients to live in a way that promotes great Health!
Food plays a huge role in this conversation. Come and join us for a revitalizing and relaxing retreat amid the lush greenery of Taranaki.
Learn to cook satisfying, tasty, nutrient dense food and learn ways to explore your garden for a fresh meal. Our weekend includes a visit to a Garden to introduce basic principles of food production in our back yards.
Our guests and visitors frequently ask for the recipes that Ram creates and for further insights on how meals are made in his creative kitchen. During this Retreat, you will spend time in the kitchen to watch behind-the-scenes food selection and preparation with Chef Ram Davies. We have prepared an insightful Retreat so we can share all this goodness with you!

What to expect
Yoga:
All activities in our program are included and the opportunity to attend all of the yoga and meditation sessions. The schedule is designed to include two yoga classes a day, apart from Friday which will only include one yoga class after your arrival. Morning classes are intended to be with more movement to start that day and warm up. The evening classes are a restorative style to prepare us for a good night sleep. We specialize on Traditional Hatha and Restorative styles. Beginners to yoga will get an introduction to yoga postures, breathing practices and relaxation techniques, while the more experienced will be guided in how to deepen their practice.
We feel dedicated to your personal evolution. Our team of wellness experts provides workshops and education to help you achieve your health related goals. Our guest speakers and lifestyle mentors support deep inner work to facilitate lasting and real change on your mindset and perspective toward healthy living. Learn more about quality sleep, stress management, healthy eating habits and food choices to take home knowledge that sustains your well-being.
Workshops:
On Saturday, you will be invited to step into the creative cooking space at Sanctuary Hill's kitchen to spend some time with Ram Davies as he demonstrates a cooking workshop. During this workshop you will learn about food selection and preparation towards creating healthy habits to meet your wellness goals. You will learn some easy recipes and discover interesting ingredients that can easily be added to your daily routine back at home. We have prepared a Recipe Booklet to take back home with you so you can recreate your Sanctuary Hill meals with the ones you love!
Also on Saturday we will visit a fully Sustainable Garden in the region of Taranaki. Why is it valuable to learn more about life on a food producing garden? We will learn where our food comes from, create a link with farming, make informed choices when shopping, think about food waste, and promote alternatives for home grown produce.
We will enjoy a Sound Healing evening session on Saturday. The crystal ‘singing’ bowl is made of quartz and the effect upon the body and consciousness of the individual is tremendous. Crystal Sound baths help to facilitate a shift in your brain waves so that a deep state of meditation and internal healing can occur. Crystal sound therapy is just one way of achieving a meditative state without having to master the practice of meditation. This experience is perfect for beginners however those more experienced can reach a theta state (deep meditation) or even a delta state (where internal healing can occur).

Walking trails:
Sanctuary Hill is surrounded by the lush greenery of the Taranaki region. During this Retreat you can walk around the property to enjoy the views of Mt. If you are feeling more invited to rest back and enjoy the view, you can relax in our various outdoor areas to bask in nature.
Meals:
The carefully prepared meals at Sanctuary Hill have a special mention on our guide. Our chef crafts extraordinary menus that are rich in natural, whole foods and herbs and contain no artificial substances or common allergens. Chef prepares all meals with seasonal, organic, locally available ingredients and with as much naturally grown ingredients from our own garden. Beautiful, delicious and so, so good for you—the food we serve is meticulously prepared to fuel both body and soul. All special dietary requirements are accommodated.

What YOGA means to us
Yoga is at the heart of our retreats, and we offer the real deal. From the physical practice, the environment where you move, the food you eat, is all part of the philosophy of an integrative way of living. The goal of the physical practice is to challenge you physically but most importantly to quiet the mind. That’s what yoga is all about – calming the mind. And that’s what we teach on our yoga retreats. You will feel re-energized and restored both physically and mentally.

We are truly looking forward to welcome you to join us on an amazing adventure. Have a question we've not yet answered? Please don't hesitate on contacting us.
