Ayurveda & Meditation Retreat

November 8th - 11th ' 2019

This retreat is an inward journey into wellbeing and provides an opportunity for you to recharge your batteries, nurture yourself and slow down with the ancient sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda. This retreat comprises three or four relaxing days of yoga, ayurvedic self-care rituals, delicious organic vegetarian cuisine, like-minded people, and inspiring talks will increase your knowledge and experience of how to live according to the healing wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda.

 

We offer this unique Retreat once a year to provide space for an intimate group to unplug from technology and daily demands in order to reconnect with our inner wisdom to nurture our body, heart, relationships and creative expression. 

You’ll be able to recognize habits of the mind and the voice of your inner wisdom, and be able to apply this to your daily life as you move onto the next phase of your journey.

What to expect

Yoga:

All activities in our program are included and the opportunity to attend all of the yoga and meditation sessions. The schedule is designed to include two yoga classes a day, apart from Friday which will only include one yoga class after your arrival. Morning classes are intended to be with more movement to start that day and warm up. These classes will be according to the subject of balancing the "doshas" (the three energies that circulate the body determining an individual's temperament and physical constitution).  This yoga practice is suitable for all levels. The evening classes are a restorative style to  prepare us for a good night sleep. We specialize on Traditional Hatha and Restorative styles.  Beginners to yoga will get an introduction to yoga postures, breathing practices and relaxation techniques, while the more experienced will be guided in how to deepen their practice.

Our guest speakers and lifestyle mentors support deep inner work to facilitate lasting and real change on your mindset and perspective toward healthy living. Workshops:

On Saturday and Sunday, will be focused on the principles of health through Yoga and Ayurveda. Our guest speaker Kelly Phillips from A Bountiful Life (www.abountifullife.co.nz) and an Ayurvedic Practitioner will share with us the key points of this science.  Ayurvedic medicine is entirely holistic. Its adherents strive to create harmony between the body, mind, and spirit, maintaining that this balance prevents illness, treats acute conditions, and contributes to a long and healthy life.  Ayurveda views each person as unique with individual needs. We may all be human but we have slightly different physiologies and emotional tendencies. Ayurveda teaches that for this reason, each person's path toward optimal health is also unique.

This workshop offers you the insight and skills to tailor your diet and lifestyle according to your individual needs.

Throughout the Retreat we will learn meditation techniques to help us let go of this limiting mental habit. Through this we will develop a peaceful mind, be able to make the most of every moment of our life and begin to uncover its true meaning. In our busy lives we find it very difficult to relax and enjoy the moment. Even while we are doing things we like, our mind is never in the present – we are constantly making plans for the future, worrying about what might happen next, and never really feeling content. You will be guided through relaxing Breathing and Body-Scan meditations, and you will learn the theory and evidence of mind-body medicine and how to apply it in your life. 

On Monday, we will learn about different Yoguic cleansing practices that are used to attain physical and mental purification, supporting the removal of toxins and creating harmony between the different energies (prana) said to exist within each of us.

Walking trails:

We provide group transportation to enjoy time in nature in a guided group walks in the surrounding areas of Taranaki. Weather permitting our Saturday walk will be a forest area where the trail is slightly steep in some areas. This walk will have a duration along 90 minutes. Suggested things to bring are hiking shoes, small pack, water bottle.

Meals:

The carefully prepared meals at Sanctuary Hill have a special mention on our guide. Our chef crafts extraordinary menus that are rich in natural, whole foods and herbs and contain no artificial substances or common allergens. Chef prepares all meals with seasonal, organic, locally available ingredients and with as much naturally grown ingredients from our own garden. Beautiful, delicious and so, so good for you—the food we serve is meticulously prepared to fuel both body and soul. All special dietary requirements are accommodated.

Accommodation:

We provide shared accommodation, with two or three guest per room. The maximum number for our groups are 10 guests.

Our modern luxury bedrooms are equipped with 100% cotton linen ant towels. We also have an option for couples to accommodate in a king size bedroom. 

We invite our guests to unwind: take a walk, explore the property, read a book from our library, journal, connect with nature and wildlife, and relax in the hot tub.

Two Night Program:

Shared Bedroom: $595 each (this is for single travelers that share a double or triple occupancy room)

Private Double Room: $1,190 for 2 guests (this is a private room for a couple or 2 friends traveling together)

Three Night Program:

Shared Bedroom: $800 each (this is for single travelers that share a double or triple occupancy room)

Private Double Room: $1,600 for 2 guests (this is a private room for a couple or 2 friends traveling together)

We offer Extended Stay Packages if you wish to stay at Sanctuary Hill after/before your Retreat.

Our packages can include accommodation, meals and access to our daily yoga schedule.

About New Plymouth

Transportation:

Sanctuary Hill is located only 15 minute drive from the New Plymouth Airport. We are happy to organize a shuttle service with an independent specialized company which normally charges NZ$35 dlls one-way.  

Starting October 2019, you can request a ride with Uber so that you can move seamlessly from A to B in New Plymouth. 

New Plymouth is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Notable features are the botanic gardens (i.e. Pukekura Park), the critically acclaimed Len Lye Centre and Art Gallery, the 11 km (6.8 mi) Coastal Walkway alongside the Tasman Sea, the Len Lye-designed artwork known as the Wind Wand, Paritutu Rock, and views of Mount Taranaki/Egmont. New Plymouth Airport has daily services from Air New Zealand and Jetstar airlines.
