Breath Retreat

October 21st to 24th' 2022

We are fascinated by the power of the breath. Our breath is the outward expression of our inner state of being. When we are stressed our breath can be shallow, rapid, agitated, even chaotic. When we feel well and rested, our breath will be calm and gentle. We can use consciously the power of our breath to initiate different states of being including meditation and deep rest. it can be a transformational tool when used wisely and with proper guidance.

Join us in this retreat if you would like to explore your Breath deeper, enquire which breathing practices serve you, and experience the intricate connection to your energy.

Highlights:

  • Yoga twice a day

  • Premium rooms with nature views

  • Delicious meals

  • Nature walk

  • Crystal Sound bowl healing session

  • Warm group environment

  • optional Massage therapy

What to expect

Yoga:

All activities in our program are included and the opportunity to attend all of the yoga and meditation sessions. The schedule is designed to include two yoga classes a day, apart from Friday which will only include one yoga class after your arrival.

For the purpose of this retreat, our yoga practice will be designed to support our breath practice. This means that our sessions will provide more space for Breath, instead of asanas (postures). Asana practice will be slow and meditative.

We specialize on Traditional Hatha and Restorative styles.

Workshops:

As we become more immersed in the understanding of the powerful force within you, we will learn fundamental and advanced breathing techniques, breath anatomy, energy connection, and use of breath for meditation.

We will enjoy a Sound Healing evening session on Sunday night.  The crystal and Tibetan bowls create a tremendous effect upon the body and consciousness of the individual. Crystal Sound baths help to facilitate a shift in your brain waves so that a deep state of meditation and internal healing can occur. Sound therapy is just one way of achieving a meditative state without having to master the practice of meditation. This experience is perfect for beginners however those more experienced can reach a theta state (deep meditation) or even a delta state (where internal healing can occur).

Walking trails:

Sanctuary Hill is surrounded by the lush greenery of the Taranaki region. During this Retreat you can walk around the property to enjoy the views of Mt. Taranaki, listen to the birds of the region, walk through the orchard and visit the different areas around our property. If you are feeling more invited to rest back and enjoy the view, you can relax in our various outdoor areas to bask in nature.

Meals:

The carefully prepared meals at Sanctuary Hill have a special mention on our guide. Our chef crafts extraordinary menus that are rich in natural, whole foods and herbs and contain no artificial substances or common allergens. Chef prepares all meals with seasonal, organic, locally available ingredients and with as much naturally grown ingredients from our own garden. Beautiful, delicious and so, so good for you—the food we serve is meticulously prepared to fuel both body and soul. All special dietary requirements are accommodated.

What YOGA means to us

Yoga is at the heart of our retreats, and we offer the real deal. From the physical practice, the environment where you move, the food you eat, is all part of the philosophy of an integrative way of living. The goal of the physical practice is to challenge you physically but most importantly to quiet the mind. That’s what yoga is all about – calming the mind. And that’s what we teach on our yoga retreats. You will feel re-energized and restored both physically and mentally.
